Ethyl lactate is synthesized from Ethyl alcohol and lactic acid whose raw material is corn. As a chiral intermediates, chiral grade methyl lactate can be used in pharmaceutical lubricant, intermediates of drug pindolol, and important intermediates of synthesis of aryloxy phenoxy propionic acid ester for pesticides.
