Innovation-Driven Growth: eSUN Demonstrates Vitality and Resilience Across Diverse Business Segments
Innovation serves as the driving force for enterprise development. Throughout eSUN's two-decade growth journey, the dual strategies of 'independent innovation' and 'open innovation' have remained central to its operations. By integrating synthesis, modification, application, and recycling of bio-based materials, the company has established a closed-loop green technology platform across the entire industrial chain, achieving strategic deployment in four key application sectors: 3D printing, ecological fibers, biomedical solutions, and sustainable packaging.
01
Innovative 3D Printing Material R&D: Leading and Driving Industry Advancement
Since 2007, eSUN has pioneered 3D printing material R&D, witnessing the industry's growth from a hundred-million to a multi-billion-dollar market. Seizing this transformative opportunity, eSUN has emerged as a globally recognized brand in 3D printing consumables.
Since 2007, when it pioneered the commercialization of PLA consumables globally, eSUN has consistently served as an innovator and leader, providing industry users with diverse 3D printing materials that offer unique aesthetics and performance characteristics for both consumer and professional applications. Today, eSUN's product portfolio spans two major categories: filaments for FDM 3D printers and photopolymer resins for SLA/DLP/LCD systems, with over 90 specialized variants. The company is also actively developing polymer powders (including PLA and PCL) for powder-based 3D printing technologies.
02
Developing Biomedical Materials to Advance the Medical Device Industry
eSUN entered the biomedical materials field in 2022 (sub-brand "eSUNMED"), offering medical-grade raw materials like PLA and PCL across various molecular weights. Additionally, we provide customized solid polymer microspheres (10-100μm) of these materials to meet specific client requirements.
To date, the company has achieved multiple innovative R&D breakthroughs with successful industrial applications, making significant progress in technological research, key technical challenges, and core material performance metrics. These innovations have resulted in numerous patented technologies and enhanced product certifications. Notably, four flagship products (implant-grade PLLA polymers & microspheres, PCL polymers & microspheres) have successively obtained Master File Registration Certificates.

Focusing on the eco-fiber business, the application layout of the polylactic acid industry has been further improved
Against the backdrop of global plastic bans and restrictions, the "green" trend has also reached the textile field. Polylactic acid fiber has many advantages such as natural skin-friendliness, antibacterial and anti-mite properties, but it also faces certain challenges in practical applications. Through continuous efforts, eSUN has explored effective solutions to the problems arising from the blending of polylactic acid fiber with natural fibers and cellulose fibers. Suzhou eSUN’s polylactic acid fiber can be widely used in disposable hygiene products, packaging materials, textiles, filling materials, sanitary protective materials, etc., and can meet users' personalized customization needs.

Expanding New Applications: eSUN's Biodegradable Materials Penetrate the Packaging Industry
Plastic bans and restrictions have accelerated the adoption of biodegradable materials. eSUN's biodegradable coated paper, blown film resins, injection molding compounds, and sheets are widely applicable across packaging sectors—including food service, daily chemical and electronics packaging, as well as medical, agricultural, and industrial packaging needs.
In summary, eSUN has consistently increased its R&D investment, continuously upgraded equipment, and optimized talent allocation. We are committed to leading and advancing industry development through innovation.
Moreover, the company maintains an open approach, actively collaborating with universities, research institutes, and upstream/downstream industry partners to foster co-innovation and accelerate the application of technological breakthroughs.
01
Wuhan Innovation Center Established, Forming a Four-in-One R&D Framework
In July this year, eSUN's New Materials Innovation Center (Wuhan) officially commenced operations. As a shared technology platform, the Wuhan center will collaborate with Xiaogan, Suzhou, and Shenzhen to establish an integrated four-location R&D network, fulfilling functions of innovation, incubation, and commercialization while building a closed-loop system for biomaterial synthesis, modification, application, and recycling.
eSUN Technology Center, led by a National "Ten Thousand Talents Plan" innovation and entrepreneurship leader, brings together a professional team of nearly 100 members with bachelor's, master's, and doctoral degrees. Across the entire industrial chain, the company has filed nearly 100 invention patents, with over 70 authorized patents. It has spearheaded the drafting of 1 international standard for 3D printing materials and led or participated in formulating more than 10 national standards for biomaterials and 3D printing materials.

GMP Facility Construction and Equipment Upgrades Lay the Foundation for Innovative R&D
With the development of various businesses, the company's production capacity has been further improved, and its hardware facilities have been gradually upgraded.
eSUN's main production base in Longhua District, Shenzhen, covers an operating area of over 2,000 square meters, including nearly 400 square meters of Class 100,000 standard cleanrooms and 100 square meters of Class 10,000 purification laboratories. These meet the standards of GMP facilities for pharmaceutical excipient production and sterile medical device manufacturing. Additionally, a new GMP workshop was added in Wuhan this year, both complying with the industry standards for biomedical polymer materials.
03
Actively promote university-enterprise cooperation projects to accelerate the incubation and application of technological achievements and the development of industry standards.
At the end of 2023, eSUN officially signed a cooperation agreement on "Research and Development of Additive Manufacturing Polylactic Acid (PLA) Powder" with the Material Forming and Mold Technology Laboratory of Huazhong University of Science and Technology and relevant teams from Wuhan University of Technology.
In early 2024, eSUN reached a cooperation agreement with Beijing Institute of Fashion Technology on the "Polylactic Acid Side-by-Side Composite Fiber Cooperation Project."
In addition, the company has the Hubei Provincial Academician and Expert Workstation, Hubei Postdoctoral Innovation Practice Base, Hubei Provincial Enterprise Technology Center, Hubei University-Enterprise Joint Biomaterials R&D Center, the "Biopolymer Materials R&D Center" in cooperation with Wuhan University, the "Low-carbon and Biomaterials Engineering Technology R&D Center" jointly established with the Ningbo Institute of Materials Technology and Engineering, Chinese Academy of Sciences, and the "Shenzhen-Hong Kong Industry-Academia-Research Base - eSUN Biopolymer Materials R&D Center".
Innovation Drives the Future. In today's complex and ever-changing market environment, only by strengthening core competencies and delivering high-quality products and services can enterprises earn customer trust and seize new opportunities. eSUN will continue to collaborate with upstream and downstream partners across the industrial chain, further advancing technological and application innovations for polylactic acid (PLA) and other biomaterials, while supporting low-carbon transformation and high-quality development in related industries.
